The film Dérives Alpines takes as its starting point the change in the way the Alps are represented as a result of global warming. The high mountains, originally perceived on a so-called timeless scale – that of geological time – are undergoing changes that are bringing them down to a human time scale (a few decades). The colossus that is The colossus that is the mountain reveals a foot of clay, a fragility inherent in its constitution and contrary to the epinal image of an immutable mountain. The Dérive Alpine project is a continuation of Capucine Vever’s film research into the perception of landscapes and the social and cultural constructions we invest in them.
