amidst majestic mountains and a cultural heritage
Flaine is the perfect natural amphitheatre in which to showcase the beautiful melodies of classical musicians.
Since its beginnings in 1969, the sounds of the most exceptional classical music have been enjoyed by many in this mountain resort every summer.
Extracts from “Flaine la création” by Éric Boissonnas.
«Working conditions in Flaine are ideal for musicians. The music venues are close to one another and connected by escalators if they’re on different levels (Flaine Forum and Flaine Forêt). Pupils often stay in the same buildings as their teachers, which makes it easy to stay in touch outside of lessons. The “master classes” take place in big halls or in the chapel, so large public audiences can attend. The “Bain de Musique” guarantees each pupil the use of a piano for at least 4 hours a day.*
«The 500-seater Auditorium where the concerts take place is very comfortable and boasts exceptional acoustics. There is also the mountain atmosphere, walks, and views over the Aiguilles de Chamonix and Mont Blanc from Les Grandes Platières, which is accessible by cable car. Course attendees in Flaine always remark on how happy they are there…”
On the subject of the Auditorium: “Its opening took place in real grandeur on the 2nd of August 1986. Eugen Indjic gave a magnificent piano recital. Everyone was taken aback by the quality of the acoustics, the elegance of the architecture and the Pol Bury fountain decorating the foyer.”
“Opus 74“, “Flaine International Music Academy” and “Music in Flaine” are carrying on the tradition of high-level musical teaching, with the emphasis on quality working conditions for teachers and pupils.
Several free concerts are held at the Auditorium for the enjoyment of course attendees and holidaymakers alike. A series of public recitals take place at the end of each academy course.
During the summer, the music academies carry on the tradition of high-level music teaching, with the emphasis, as ever, on quality working conditions for teachers and pupils.
