In contrast to the mountain tradition, it stands out with its concrete facades, masonry base of local stone and its diamond-point motifs. Le Flaine owes its originality to its terrace-solarium, which defies the cliff by overhanging it. The building, which is sensitive to variations in light, is both aesthetically pleasing and in keeping with the landscape. The roof of the hotel has been listed as a Historic Monument since 29 April 1991.
