Since 2012, Jen Rival (singer, actress) and Nicolas Méheust (multi-instrumentalist) have been performing Nefertiti in the kitchen, a duo concert-show that oscillates between fairground cabaret and Kurt-Weillian blues rock. In 2018, they felt the urge to share their art with young audiences, and so the Eugénio film-concert was born. Based on the cartoon Eugenio directed by Jean-Jacques Prunès, adapted from the album by Lorenzo Mattotti and Mariane Cockenpot published by Seuil Jeunesse.
Nefertiti in the kitchen and its fairground atmosphere invite you to discover the world of Italian cartoonist Lorenzo Mattotti. For the occasion, Jen Rival, actress and singer, and Nicolas Méheust, multi-instrumentalist, are Madame Loyale and Monsieur Orchestra, welcoming you in song to this little circus. Their merry-go-round of toy piano, electric accordion, music box and loop pedal will take you on a journey to meet Eugenio.
As for the arrangements: Nicolas, one-man band, drums and accordion, and Jen, vocals, keyboard, ukulele, guitar and loopier, plus sound effects.
Eugenio is a clown with fabulous tricks that enchant everyone at the famous circus where he performs. But one day he mysteriously loses his famous, irresistible laugh that used to delight children. His friends, the acrobats, the Siamese twins and the magician, each try to make him smile again.
We discover an admirable gallery of characters, each zanier and fantastic than the last: Rocco and his rhinoceros, Fabulino the magician, Méli-Mélo the contortionist, the Siamese sisters Collé-Monté, Motus the ventriloquist…
