Here’s some advice before you go:

  • Find out about the weather/avalanche risk and check the Flaine weather report (available during the months when the ski area is open).
  • Choose your itinerary carefully according to your level.
  • Bring your safety equipment and make sure it works: shovels/probes/avalanche victim detector.
  • Learn and practise the use of safety equipment before going out.
  • Don’t go out alone. Tell someone about your itinerary and the time allocated to your expedition.
  • If necessary, call in a professional to supervise your outing.
  • Prepare your rucksack with drinks, sun cream, sunglasses and don’t forget to eat regularly.
